Energy Storage Global Conference 2016

27.9. - 29.9.2016, Brussels, Belgium

ELSA will be part of the poster showcase at the ESGC 2016. Visit us to learn more about the ELSA battery energy storage system and its pilot installations.

The 2nd Energy Storage Global Conference will be held in Brussels on the 27th to 29th of September 2016. The ESGC is a not-for-profit conference organised by the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) in order provide a forum for discussion and networking on all issues related to the topic of energy storage. Each day of the three-day conference will be devoted to a specific pillar of Energy Storage - Day One to Technology, Day Two to Policy and Day Three to Market-related issues.

The ELSA team will join the ESGC 2016 with a booth in the poster showcase for EU projects. Visit us and learn more about what's currently happening in the ELSA project. Current project highlights are e.g.:

# The ELSA project is holding its midterm conference titled „The ELSA battery storage system – safe, scalable and green" on the 27th of October in Paris. Participants are invited to join the ELSA team for a visit to the ELSA prototype – installed at the headquarters of Bouygues Energies & Services

# During the second week of August, the first ELSA pilot site was outfitted with an ELSA battery energy storage system. An electrical storage unit based on three second life Nissan Leaf batteries with a total capacity of 48 kWh was installed at the Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation of the Gateshead College. Together with a newly deployed rooftop photovoltaic system of 50 kWp, the ELSA system is expected to provide services such as peak shaving, demand response and energy purchase time shifting. For that purpose, the deployed ELSA battery energy storage system will be connected to an energy management system supplied by the consortium partner UTRC Ireland, Limited.

# The first ELSA stakeholder workshop was successfully held in May at the pilot site in Aachen. Stakeholders from the energy and building domain discussed business-cases for small-and medium scale storage solutions.

# Deliverable 5.1: "First study of the economic impact in the local and national grid related to all demo sites” is now publicly available at the ELSA website: https://elsa-h2020.eu/Results.html
