Bridge at the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW)

The BRIDGE initiative participates in the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) next June 2017 with a session focussed on the main messages to policy makers from the demonstration projects, with a particular emphasis on the latest legislative proposals of the European Commission, "Clean Energy for All Europeans", published in November 2016. During this session, the Chairs of the four BRIDGE Working Groups will present their recommendations for facilitating the deployment of smart grids and energy storage solutions that could increase the share of production from renewable sources, in particular wind and solar, and contribute to decarbonising the European electricity system.

This seminar is to be held 22 June at the Charlemagne building (room Mansholt), Brussels, at 14:00 - 15:30. The title of the session is "BRIDGE — ACCELERATING SMART GRIDS AND STORAGE DEPLOYMENT BY REMOVING BARRIERS TO INNOVATION”. Seats are limited so do not forget to register as soon as possible!

Last but not least, the BRIDGE initiative is having a networking slot Wednesday 21st June at 9:00-12:30 where the initiative and its activities are to be presented. 

 

BRIDGE is a European Commission initiative which gathers more than 30 Horizon 2020 Innovation Actions in the field of smart grids and energy storage. The initiative aims at identifying and structuring issues of transversal nature encountered in the demonstration projects that may constitute obstacles to innovation. The work is organised according to four main areas of interest, addressed by four Working Groups on Data Management, Business Models, Regulations and Customer Engagement. As an Horizon 2020 project focused on Smart Grids and Storage, the ELSA project is actively involved in all four Working Groups of the Bridge initiative.

Projects participating within BRIDGE share field experience, feedback and lessons learned when dealing with policy barriers to innovation. BRIDGE gathers the outputs generated by the projects in order to speak as a single voice towards policy makers when making recommendations to remove barriers to innovation deployment.
