UTRC Ireland at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2016

On June 13 - 17 the European Sustainable Energy Week was held in Brussels, Belgium, offering a high-level program of events discussing the most cutting-edge innovations in renewable and efficient energy practices and government policy.
 
Representing the ELSA project, Stefano Riverso, UTRC Ireland, was invited to speak alongside representatives from leading companies and the European Commission at a workshop on Smart Buildings. The session entitled "Smart consumers and smart buildings: The active role of buildings in a transforming energy system,” was organized by the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE). Its goal was to inform decision makers, industry and innovators about the role buildings play in an interactive and highly integrated public energy system, and how a buildings' tenants and owners can be part of this transformation. Riverso held a presentation on the role of storage systems in buildings and controls for Smart Buildings and proposed second life batteries as a potential and flexible solution for providing services to the electricity grid as it is implemented in ELSA. 
 
The event allowed also to reach out to aggregators and policy makers who will be invited to upcoming stakeholder meetings and will be introduced to the ELSA Advisory Board.
